When we were conceptualizing ABODE OF SNOW, the English translation of ‘Himalaya,’ we wanted to figure out a way to tell the stories of Tibet, its people, and its rich culture through the lens of a contemporary outerwear brand. We love the outdoors, and our parents and ancestors come from the enormously powerful Himalayas; years in the making, we are finally launching ABODE OF SNOW.
Founded by Tenzin Wild and Tao Okamoto, ABODE OF SNOW combines the most important traditions of our Tibetan and Japanese heritages, respectively. Working with a family of artisans in Japan and using ethical, sustainable, and high-quality materials, we are producing designs that are constructed to last.
We support Cure Blindness, the Himalayan Cataract Project. Since 1995, HCP and their partners have performed over 980'000 surgeries to eradicate preventable blindness throughout the developing world.
